Julia Davids is the Founder of Fieldhouse Press, delivering tools for healthier relationships with technology. A graduate of Stanford University and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Julia specializes in product design for health apps. She founded Fieldhouse Press in 2025 to address an unmet need to teach and empower people to be selective about when and how they use software and devices.
Julia’s Story
“I’m a designer for complex software applications. So I’m around tech a lot and totally get how devices have transformed society and are essential. I also understand the commercial pressures that software companies face to get people’s time on screens going up and up and up.
Then a couple years ago, I noticed my projects and chores were overdue because I was so distracted by my phone. So I spent tons of time online — ironic, I know — scouring the internet for ideas for healthy screen time, and trying them out myself. I learned a lot and experimented on myself to come up with a method that drastically reduced my screen time and helped me get things done.
Today, with the changes I made, my smartphone is a tool that works for me. Not something that steals my time.
Through Fieldhouse Press, I want to teach the world how to have a healthier relationship with technology and devices.”
